4.7 describe experiments to prepare soluble salts from acids

4.7 •making soluble salts using acids and insoluble bases (most oxides, hydroxides and
       carbonates)
                •add the base to the acid, dissolving it
                          •when neutralised, the excess solid will sink
                •filter to remove the excess solid for the salt solution
                •let it  cool to set and crystallise
                          •remember to gently heat not boil or let it to dry

       •copper carbonate(s) + nitric acid(aq) ------> copper nitrate(aq) + carbon dioxide(g) + water(l)
       •CuCO3(s) + 2HNO3(aq) ------> Cu(NO3)2(aq) + CO2(g)

    •making soluble salts using alkali-hydroxides
                •can’t use method above so it’s titration
                           •add drops of acid to the alkali from a burette
                           •measure the amount drops until it the phenolphthalein turns pink
                           •stir after every drop
                           •redo the experiment with the set amount
                           •when just neutralised, heat to boil off some water and then cool to crystallise
