1.30 understand ionic bonding as a strong electrostatic attraction between oppositely charged ions

1.30 •only elements on the opposite side (metals and non-metals) will attract to form ionic
          compounds
        •elements in the same group have the same number of outer electrons, so they have to lose or gain the same amount to get a full outer shell, which means that they form ions with
         the same charge
